Obituary: Flying Officer Duncan Maxwell Robertson, killed flying on acting [sic] service was 27 years of age, the elder son of Air Commodore ED Maxwell Robertson, CB, DFC, retired and Mrs Robertson of Tain, Ashtead. He was commissioned as a pilot officer in the Reserve of Air Force Officers on March 16, 1931 and was promoted to flying officer 18 months later.

He was an Air Gunner. He died on 28 Oct 1940, and is buried in Grave 2, MANBY (ST MARY) CHURCHYARD.

Note: Wg Cdr Howard Frizelle 'Billy' Burton DSO DFC* who is also on the Ashtead War Memorial, was the husband of Jean Ferelith Maxwell Burton (ne้ Robertson), only daughter of Air Commodore EDM Robertson, CB, DFC (retd.), and Mrs Robertson of Tain, Ashtead, Surrey.
