Alfred Mount was a Wireless Operator/Air Gunner in the crew of Sgt GK Sampson when their Wellington bomber failed to return from an attack on Kiel on the night of 28/29 April 1942. His parents were Ronald Sydney Mount and Kate Mount, of Ashtead, Surrey.

28/29 Apr 1942: Wellington MkIII X3716 WS- : Op Kiel

Took off from RAF Honington 2307. Crashed 0156, Danish time, at Hobal, 5km SE of Kliplev, Denmark. At least two of the crew baled out, though failing to survive, and their bodies were found several days after the crash. All are buried in Aabenraa Cemetery.

Other sources state that the aircraft was attacked by a German night fighter on the way to the target and exploded in the air north of Kruså. The wreckage was scattered over a wide area.

Arthur was buried on 2nd May 1942 with three other members of the crew: the other two were buried on 9th May.
