Welcome to Leatherhead & District Local History Society The Society was formed in 1946 for everyone interested in the history of the area including Ashtead, Bookham, Fetcham and Headley as well as Leatherhead. We meet at the Letherhead Institute at the top of Leatherhead High Street on the 3rd Friday of September to May, for lectures on local history topics. These start at 8pm with coffee served from 7.30pm and are open to all, members £1, visitors £2. We also arrange visits for members to places of interest during the summer. We have very extensive archives of articles, maps and photographs of the area and a library of local history for use by members. Our publications include an annual Proceedings of the Society with articles by members; a quarterly Newsletter; and various books on the history of Leatherhead, Ashtead, Bookham, Fetcham and Headley. Our Museum of Local History is at Hampton Cottage, 64 Church Street (see Museum link). Museum Funding Appeal 2007 The Great Sock Raffle 2008 |
