Local sources are looking into establishing more about the family
connection with the village: it is believed he had a sister,
Florence. One story is that 'Jack' was stationed in Edinburgh.
During an air raid, the men is his barracks room took cover. When
a bomb hit nearby, Jack looked up and was killed.
His war grave is set in a family grave, and inscription on which
says 'In loving memory of my Dear Husband Leslie A
[?Shepherd/Sheppard], died Dec 2nd 1931.
